Lilypad Bringing New Music to Alien Swirling Saucers at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Imagineers introduced Lilypad, a spirited frog-shaped smart tablet from Disney-Pixar's latest film Toy Story 5, to Alien Swirling Saucers in Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios starting September 25. Lilypad connects friends in the backyard with an all-new soundtrack called Lilypad’s Jams.

DJ Lilypad curates a fresh lineup featuring reimagined Toy Story classics and brand-new songs written just for the attraction. Lilypad remixes and mashups tunes across various styles and genres, creating an energetic musical experience.

Imagineers recorded the new soundtrack in Nashville with world-class musicians spanning pop, country, EDM, and alt-rock genres. Thomas Niederhiser, Senior Creative Producer at Walt Disney Imagineering, expressed the aim to create catchy and sincere songs, including a playful piece about Pizza Planet.

Classic Toy Story favorites such as “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” “We Belong Together,” and “I Can’t Let You Throw Yourself Away” have been reimagined and infused with new energy for the attraction.

In addition to remixes, new songs like 'Pizza Planet Promo,' highlighting the in-story pizza arcade, and 'Spin It Back, Lilypad,' a tribute to the new toy in the backyard, expand the Toy Story musical experience.

Geoff Line, Senior Story Lead at Walt Disney Imagineering, shared that collaborating with Pixar to write for these characters and expand their stories was a joyful experience, noting that toys like Partysaurus Rex will have more featured playtime with Lilypad as DJ.

Guests can interact with Lilypad beyond the ride. Offboard entertainment includes singing along to the playlist, guessing which toy Lilypad doodles on her drawing app, solving puzzles, and watching 'home videos' of favorite Toy Story characters.

Since the first Toy Story in 1995, its story has resonated worldwide, and with Toy Story 5 now streaming on Disney+ as of September 23, new generations are building memories. Lilypad’s Jams bring new music magic to Disney’s Hollywood Studios beginning September 25.
